Years of Experience in Manufacturing will be Instrumental in Leading the Company's First Product Rollout
Amalfi Semiconductor, a developer of high-performance CMOS Radio Frequency and mixed-signal semiconductors, today announced that Dan Wark, a former executive of Volterra Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq; VLTR), has joined the company as Vice President of Operations. Mr. Wark will be responsible for all of Amalfi’s product manufacturing activities and will play a significant role in setting up the company’s manufacturing operations as it prepares to go into production with its first product, a CMOS-based Power Amplifier Device for the cellular handset market.
Mr. Wark brings to Amalfi over 25 years experience in manufacturing for both fab and fabless semiconductor companies. Prior to joining Amalfi, Mr. Wark was the Vice President of Operations for Volterra, a fabless semiconductor company focused on advanced switching regulators for the computer, datacom, storage and portable equipment markets. Mr. Wark was responsible for all of Volterra’s manufacturing activities and was instrumental in implementing a scalable planning infrastructure that enabled the company to grow approximately 50% per year over the past seven years. He was also part of the management team that led Volterra’s successful IPO in 2004. Prior to Volterra, Mr. Wark held executive and management positions at Pericom Semiconductor, Linear Technology, Avantek Corporation and National Semiconductor Corporation.
“Our design team has been successful in designing a new-generation of CMOS-based power amplifier devices, that we believe will have significant cost performance advantages for cellular handset manufacturers,” said Jim Finch, Co-founder and CEO of Amalfi Semiconductor. “There are many challenges involved with bringing innovative new products to market that require both operational and manufacturing experience. Mr. Wark’s extensive experience in semiconductor manufacturing, from pre-production to full-production, will enable us to successfully deliver our advanced technology to the high-volume cellular handset market.”
Mr. Wark will be responsible for overseeing Amalfi’s product and test engineering, package engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, operations planning and information technology. Amalfi plans to introduce its CMOS-based Power Amplifier Device in the first half of 2008.
